My Work Inspired By..

I am Inspired by Matthew Seed. I feel connected with his work it is amazing. I would love to base my project on similar pieces to his. I love how each and every one of his photo’s are individual and i feel they tell a story. To me they all truly express the love that is involved in a horse and it’s owner through a photograph. I feel this is so effective and eye catching, they photographs really grab the attention of the viewer and automatically you are involved in the story by just viewing the image. I believe the dramatic effect on the photo's is unique and automatically gets you interested and involved in the photo in a really effective way..

The above image is one of my favourite, i really like the lighting on
the picture how it looks like there is a spotlight shinning on the main
                          attraction in the picture.

I would like to shoot a photograph like this. The black background
looks amazing, even though the horse is dark also the overall
picture is really eye catching and to me is a fantastic image.

I was inspired by the above image and i have tried to do something similar in my own work. I like the dark background with the horse and model in a sort of spotlight. I think this has a great effect and is unique. I am inspired by Matthew Seed's style, i feel he works very deeply into all his work to create such good images.

This image above is really effective, i like how the horse is there
but almost like the photograph is drawn rather than taken. I feel
the idea of the outline of the horse just coming through works really
well. I hope to base an image on something similar to this as although
it seems quite a simple photograph it is such an eye catching photo.

Here is a photo i have taken and edited in the style of Matthew Seed. I took this image in natual light with a busy background. I then went into Photoshop to edit my image. I used the curve tool to make the horse brighter and stand out more. I then decided to use the burn tool to make the background darker. I feel this is really effective and eyecatching. I then went to sharpen the image, i feel this gave the overall picture a more effective look. I feel the photo looks like it has been drawn rather than taken. I am pleased with my photo and happy with the end results.

Above i have added another example of my work. Again the photo was taken originally in natural light and i left it un edited. I then opened Photoshop and used the curve tool to brighten the horse and then used the burn tool to black out my background. I also used the clone tool to black out the bits closer to the horse.

I then decided to re edit the original image again in Photoshop. I firstly used the sponge tool to increase the saturation focusing mainly on the background including the sky and trees. I then used the burn tool to create a vingette around my image. Once i had done that i used the curves tool to increase the brightness of the horse to make it look like the horse is in a spotlight. I got my inspiration for this from Matthew Seed photography. I am very happy with my end images and feel they work well. I decided to try out different editing ideas in order to give myself a variation of ideas for my end photograph. After doing this i have come to the conclusion i prefer the image after the Vignette although i do feel the saturation on the image is slightly too bright and i could of reduced this slightly. I then decided to try out the Vignette technique more in depth below.

Again i brought my original photograph into Photoshop to edit. I tried using the sponge tool to increase the saturation but due to the light of the original photo it was too bright. So i firstly used the curve tool to add slight colour and then went over the background using the sponge tool. Once i had done that i went into filter, distort and then lens correction. I then created a vignette. I used the sharpen tool to finish to give the image a better effect.  The above second edited image is my favourite. I am really happy with it and feel it is effective, i like the warm look on the model and horse. I am pleased with my editing skills in this image and feel i have tried my best in order to produce something similar to Matthew Seeds work.

Again i have used a very similar method as above. This time i have increased the darkness of the Vingette and i sharpened the horses nose to make it more effective. Again i used the curve tool to increase the colour and create the spotlight effect. I feel i may have made the Vignette slightly too dark on the above image, however i still feel it works well and is effective which was my overall aim. To me the photograph isn't just an image it also shows the bond between a horse and owner which i felt by looking at Matthew Seed's work. I tried my best to make my work original in it's own way.
